From Stable to Sanctuary in Tasmania

Hallo Freunde, I’m scribbling this from Frankfurt Airport, where I’ve spent the past couple of days exploring Ambiente (more on that over on my IG).

As always, when travelling, the world opens up a little — and suddenly you feel like you could just keep going. Don’t worry, family. I am actually coming home. Still, I do have a long-held dream of visiting Tasmania one day, and I’ve just found another stay to add to my ever-growing list: The Stable Lofts.

Housed within a historic converted stable, The 'Pony' is a charming mudbrick loft set right in the heart of rustic Tasmanian country life. The listing describes it as being surrounded by lush gardens, serenaded by birdsong and visited by wallabies at dusk and dawn — a place where time slows down. The perfect setting for a romantic weekend escape. And, I’m completely there for it (virtually, for now).

I love the simplicity of it all: the whites and warm wood tones, the carefully chosen vintage finds, the sense of calm throughout. It looks like the perfect place to truly unwind. Come and enjoy the tour with me.

Uh oh, I need to run, my flight is boarding shortly for Copenhagen. I have to say, I'm looking forward to my own bed. There's a saying in Sweden 'borta är bra, hemma är bäst' - away is nice, but being at home is best. Would you agree with this?

Hej vänner! Ready for a new week?   Looking at the picture above, you'd be forgiven for thinking that this is a classic Swedish summer cottage in the depths of the countryside. But, after featuring not one  but two country homes last week - I promised you something different. Where Life Happens Gently: Inside a Tranquil Swedish Family Home

Some days call for a sense of calm—and that’s exactly what you’ll find in the family home of @emiliaolssons . This Swedish villa is awash in soothing tones and furnished in a pared-back style, where every piece adds quiet interest. All around, glimpses of family life unfold, framed by lush greenery. Keep an eye out for the cosy touches kept within reach: a chaise longue perfect for sinking into with a good book, and a basket of blankets tucked under the stairs, ready for chillier days. Escape to a Cosy Swedish Summer Cottage in the Heart of the Countryside

We’re up at our little cabin now, enjoying a slower pace – long lunches, a bike ride to tennis, then a swim. It’s the kind of holiday I look forward to all year. Sweden is at its summer best: lush forests, wildflowers everywhere, warm days with a gentle breeze, and beach picnics with friends – plus a bit of chaos too when it comes to grocery runs and washing dishes! But even that has its charm. Yesterday at the local supermarket, a whole family walked in wearing dressing gowns – just back from a swim! That’s Swedish summer for you – easy-going, blissfully relaxed, and delightfully unbothered. If you’re tempted to try it yourself, there are plenty of beautiful cottages on Airbnb that offer just that feeling. One I love is this cosy red stuga in Gränby , near the lovely town of Vadstena. Set among open fields, it’s simple but special – with a snug sleeping loft, an open fireplace, and a solar-heated outdoor shower. Perfect for stargazing, spotting deer, and slow, meaningful days. ...
